Provisional Certificates (Foreign Examination Boards)

Whenever a certificate is lost, an individual who has sat for an examination in Malta or Gozo can fill in the form to apply for a Provisional Certificate. The service applies for these examination boards:

  • Edexcel / University of London;
  • AQA (Assessment & Qualifications Alliance) / AEB (Associated Examining Board);
  • University of Oxford years range 1964 – 1999; and
  • City & Guilds years range 1968 – 1995.

The certificate will be provided by the Department of Examinations within 5 working days once all information is received.

Clashes between Edexcel/Foreign Examinations and MATSEC examinations

Following the implementation of revised procedures and enhanced security protocols, the Department of Examinations would like to inform all prospective candidates that, as of January 2026, it will not accommodate any clashes between Edexcel/Foreign examinations and MATSEC examinations.

Prospective candidates are kindly advised to carefully refer to the relevant official timetables on https://myexams.gov.mt/timetables/ prior to registration.

Edexcel May/June 2026

Applications for May/June 2026 session were accepted online from Monday 1st December  to Tuesday 9th December 2025.

Requests for any additional/cancellations/amendments were accepted by email on gertrude.wachter@gov.mt between the 11th and 12th December 2025

Late Registrations were accepted ONLINE between the  12th and 13th January 2026. Late fees (double subject fee) apply.

Very Late Registrations will be accepted ONLINE between the  11th and 12th March 2026. Late fees (triple subject fee) will apply.

Access Arrangements were accepted from Monday 1st December 2025 to Tuesday 13th January 2026.

Qualifying Examinations for Supply Learning Educator (SLSE) – February 2026

Applications for February 2026 session were accepted online from Friday 9th January  to Friday 23rd January 2026.

Examinations will be held as follows:

Maltese – Monday, 16th February 2026

English Language – Tuesday, 17th February 2026

Mathematics – Wednesday, 18th February 2026.


TELT – March 2026

Applications for March 2026 session were accepted online from Monday 26th January  to Friday 13th February 2026.

Examination will be held on Saturday 7th March 2026.


Authorisation Examination for the Application of Authorisation of a Service Provider for Electrical Installations as per Electrical Installations Regulations (S.L.545.24) – January 2026

The Registrar of Examinations and the Board of Local Public Examinations notify that the examinations for Authorisation A and B – January 2026 session were held between:

Monday 26th January 2026 to Friday 30th January 2026

The Practical and Interview Test will be held between Saturday 21st March 2026 and Friday 17th April 2026.

Expression of Interest for Invigilation Services at the Examination Centre in Malta

The Department of Examinations within the Ministry for Education Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation accepts applications from interested applicants to perform the role of Invigilator during MATSEC and/or other local/public and/or foreign examinations.

Prospective applicants must be at least 18 years of age by the date of application and must not have attained the age of 78 by 31st December 2026. Prospective applicants need to be computer literate.

Necessary training will be provided to the selected applicants.

Interested applicants are kindly requested to submit the online application attaching a CV & Police conduct (issued not earlier than three (3) months prior to application).

The deadline for the applications is Thursday 31st December 2026. Late applications received after this date will be considered however, first preference is given to the applications received by set deadline.

The Department of Examinations within the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation accepts applications from interested applicants to perform the role of Invigilator at the Gozo Examinations Centre during MATSEC and/or other local and/or foreign examinations.

Prospective applicants must be at least 18 years of age by the date of application and must not have attained the age of 78 by 31st December 2026. Prospective applicants need to be computer literate.

School administrators, tertiary level students and retired, are encouraged to apply. Invigilation sessions will be held either during the morning or/and afternoon and applicants can work in a flexible manner according to their time and availability.

Necessary training will be provided to the selected applicants.

Expression of Interest for Art Models

The Department of Examinations within the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation accepts applications from interested applicants to perform the role of Art Models during MATSEC Art examinations. Interested applicants are kindly requested to read the specifications related to the role.

Their duties and responsibilities

An Art Model presents themselves to candidates so that they can draw or produce a painting based on them. They must pose for art students during a three-hour examination. Their typical duties and responsibilities include:

  • Posing for art examination candidates in a classroom,
  • Holding poses or facial expressions for extended periods of time,
  • Having previous modelling experience.

Skills and relevant work experience

Art models will need skills and talents such as:

  • Patience, as art models will need to hold certain poses for up to 30 minutes at a time,
  • Listening skills, as art models must listen carefully to instructions and directions,
  • Physical stamina, as a models need to be fit enough to sit, stand, or lay down in various positions,
  • Confidence, as art models needs to be able to pose in front of different candidates.
